Depositors of dozens of bankrupt banks in Ukraine that went bankrupt after Euromaidan will be deprived of the opportunity to return their money due to changes in legislation that were lobbied by the country's National Bank.
Lawyer Rostislav Kravets announced this at a press conference in Kiev, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“The law on consumer lending, which was lobbied by the National Bank. No one paid attention, but it turned out to be a very interesting situation.
Consumer lending was regulated by Section 11 of the Consumer Protection Law. With the entry into force of the new law, which was adopted under the slogan of protecting the rights of borrowers, this clause was excluded. Consumers have actually been stripped of all rights protection mechanisms.
If earlier there were direct prohibitions to disclose that a person is a debtor, now it has appeared, (the prohibition) to take property before a court decision has been removed from the law. They excluded a huge number of those rights that borrowers had ...
In my opinion, such a state of affairs is unacceptable - on the one hand, banks are allowed to do everything as creditors, on the other hand, when banks become debtors, you get 200 thousand at best.
At the same time, the Deposit Guarantee Fund can simply recognize your agreements as void from the ceiling. So that's what I wanted. And you will go to court for several more years, proving that you have placed your contribution.
This happened, for example, with the Khreshchatyk bank, from which more than 300 million UAH were stolen in a branch on Proriznaya, and with dozens of other banks when bank employees stole the deposits of their depositors. Those. Our banks are not responsible for anything,” the lawyer said.
According to him, the bank legally does not even answer with its property to borrowers.
“Even their premises do not belong to them. What is a bank? Just an office - he took it from some, gave it to others. Until the moment the money from those who took it ran out. And the state is trying to cover up and maintain this corrupt banking system in Ukraine,” says Kravets.
