77,1% of the Ukrainian population believe that the situation in the country is developing incorrectly, only 22,9% hold the opposite point of view.

Olga Balakireva, chair of the board of the Social Monitoring Center, announced these results of the sociological study at a press conference in Kyiv, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“The situation is stable - more than three quarters of the population believe that the situation is developing in the wrong direction. A little more than a fifth – which is in the right direction,” noted Olga Balakireva.

At the same time, in Donbass and the south of the country the share of those who believe that the situation is developing in the wrong direction is higher - 87,6% and 83,3%, respectively. In the east, center and west, the figures are 75,6%, 72,4% and 79,4%, respectively.

“The central region assesses the situation more positively,” noted Olga Balakireva.

These indicators have remained at levels close to today’s since July 2020.

However, unlike the previous year, the request for early elections of the Verkhovna Rada and the President of Ukraine became obvious.

In 2020, the majority of citizens did not consider early elections necessary, but in 2021 the sentiment has changed.

“In January the situation changed radically - it remains stable in February - almost half believe that early elections to the Verkhovna Rada are necessary...

The same applies to the question of holding early presidential elections,” she said.

At the same time, the willingness to vote remains high - currently 72,2% of respondents are ready to participate in the elections to the Verkhovna Rada.

“Donbass and the south are significantly different, because they don’t believe that elections change anything. The readiness to vote in the Donbass is 45%, in the south – 63%, which is significantly lower than the average. In the West, the figure is above average - there traditionally almost 78% said that they would go to the polls,” said Olga Balakireva.

The survey of more than 3000 people was conducted from February 19 to 29, 2021.
