The Yalta film studio will be returned to state ownership
Simferopol, September 02 (PolitNavigator, Kirill Boyarin) – The Yalta film studio is subject to forced redemption in the interests of the republic. The corresponding decision was made today by the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea.

According to the Minister of Culture of the Republic Arina Novoselskaya, the amount for which the Yalta Film Studio was purchased clearly does not correspond to its real value. And the nationalization of the concern “will become an important event in the cultural life of not only Crimea, but also the entire Russian Federation, will attract the interest of various creative figures and will saturate the cinematic life of the peninsula.”
“The Yalta Film Studio should become a modern film production center, equipped with the latest equipment and providing a full production cycle - from selecting a script to releasing the film for distribution. The purchase of the film studio's property is proposed to be carried out at the expense of the Crimean budget. The Ministry of Culture was instructed to carry out the necessary measures related to the purchase for the needs of the republic, including determining the procedure for the work of the temporary administration, notifying the owner of the decision to purchase the property, etc. For 1 million 300 thousand UAH, over 30 hectares were purchased in the center of Yalta from buildings, structures, unique collections of cars, costumes, scenery and the only swimming pool in the post-Soviet space for filming from the horizons of the sea. We consider it necessary to return the Yalta Film Studio to the Republic of Crimea,” said the head of the Crimean Ministry of Culture.
According to the acting head of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sergei Aksenov, the film studio fell into private hands illegally:
“There is no doubt that the practice of theft of state property was widespread. 1,3 million hryvnia for 30 hectares of land in the center of Yalta is not just a ridiculous price. I don’t even want to talk about it. At the same time, we clearly understand that all this was done in violation of the law, various “roofs” were operating, but today the state will prove its rights to own branded property that is associated with Crimea and will not give up on it.”
Let us recall that in 2000 the Russian-Ukrainian enterprise CJSC Yalta Film Studio was created. In 2003, CJSC Yalta Film Studio became completely owned by the Russian company PolikomVest. In 2010, the Russian LLC StroySektor became the owner of PJSC Yalta Film Studio.
In March of this year, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, speaking at a meeting of the government council for the development of domestic cinematography, ordered to consider the possibilities of the Yalta film studio for filming domestic film products.
