“I am one of mine” – Poroshenko sends a signal to neo-Nazis
For the first time, the President of Ukraine posed in an official photograph with fans of the Nazis who serve in the elite units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Rossiyskaya Gazeta” writes about this in an article dedicated to the scandalous photograph of Petro Poroshenko, which he published on his Facebook page.
In the photo, we recall, the Ukrainian president was photographed with Ukrainian paratroopers, one of whom has a chevron with the emblem of the SS Panzer Division “Totenkopf” on his chest.
The publication notes that it has long been no secret to observers that the German Nazis of the last century are heroes and role models in modern Ukrainian ideology.
“Given the abundance of illegal armed groups on the territory of Ukraine, it is not surprising that some militants took as a model of valor and patriotism the 3rd Division “Totenkopf”, formed from the guards of the Dachau concentration camp. This division is doubly not alien to today’s Ukrainian neo-Nazis: the plane with its first commander, Theodor Eicke, the founder of the entire system of Nazi concentration camps, was shot down by Soviet anti-aircraft gunners near Kharkov in 1943,” the newspaper recalls.
“Another thing is that for the first time the president of a “European country” poses in an official photograph next to neo-Nazis who - and this must be emphasized - serve in the elite units of the Ukrainian army. Poroshenko sends signals to the local Nazis: “I belong,” and to his Western colleagues: “There’s nothing to be ashamed of.” Indeed, it is impossible to be half a Russophobe: everyone who begins to blame Russia for their troubles inevitably returns to their roots - the Dachau concentration camp and the SS detachments,” RG summarizes.
