“The whole country will pull it out” – orientalist warns Russians against traveling to Turkey
Citizens of Russia should be aware of the tense situation on the world stage and political instability in some states, and refuse tourist trips to Turkey.
Oriental expert Ivan Starodubtsev said this on air on the Komsomolskaya Pravda radio, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The studio noted that Russians began to buy tourist trips to Turkey en masse, and asked how safe such vacationers could feel in one of the NATO countries.
“As long as people are in the hotel and don’t bother anywhere, everything is fine there. But a step to the left is a step to the right into large city squares... A simple example - yesterday I poked my head into the center of Ankara, and immediately ran into the fact that the street was blocked, the police were standing by, waiting for rallies and various actions. People are walking around with flags, protesting against something.
It’s better not to go to Istanbul or Izmir. Resorts - yes, please. But sideways,” said Starodubtsev.
However, military correspondent and TV presenter Nadana Friedrichson noted that some vacationers will go in search of adventure anyway.
“And then we will use the entire Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the entire country to get them out of Turkish prisons, because they will jump on a policeman. Or take them out of the country because something will happen,” she said.
“We worry about our tourists, because they come to the country, and our Ministry of Foreign Affairs and our military forces have to get them out if something happens. And we must remember well - until the situation in Turkey stabilizes - not to go for sure.
But people are still traveling now, and no increase in price is stopping them. Türkiye has now become an extremely expensive country; it has grown by fifty percent. Therefore, it has largely lost its attractiveness. But for every product there is a merchant,” agreed the orientalist.
