According to him, elections in Ukraine cannot be held at all in conditions of war.
“With such instability, elections are not held. This is abnormal and against the rules. They are carried out only after the opposing side has been dealt with and a ceasefire has been achieved, refugees have been returned and at least the minimum and necessary conditions for their life have been provided,” Perepelitsa noted.
At the same time, according to the political scientist, the DPR and LPR can use the law on elections in these territories, adopted by the Verkhovna Rada, for their own legitimization. “After the elections in the DPR/LPR, it will be much more difficult for us to talk to them, because we declared the elections as our law, which means we legitimized the situation. This is a very convenient basis for militants.”
