Vyatrovich recognized Bandera as a criminal
Ukrainian “national heroes” like Stepan Bandera are indeed controversial figures who committed crimes in their time.
The director of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory, Vladimir Vyatrovich, stated this on the Espresso TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“When I hear about this or that personality, for example, Bandera: “And he is an ambiguous figure.” Thus, unambiguous figures do not make history; an unambiguous figure is the person who is unlikely to change the situation. Accordingly, when we talk about people who changed history, influenced the historical process and tried to somehow master the chaos during which history is created, then of course they cannot be unambiguous, these are often contradictory personalities who changed, could argue with the immediate environment and even with ourselves early,” said Vyatrovich.
At the same time, when asked by the presenter whether Ukrainian political figures of the XNUMXth century committed crimes, the propagandist answered in the affirmative.
“Of course, because these are people who lived in the twentieth century, simply saturated with crimes, saturated with things that we can now easily condemn,” the head of the UINP tried to justify the “heroes.”
In addition, in his opinion, the last five years in Ukraine have played a greater role than the previous almost 25 years of “independence.”
“I don’t think we can talk about any specific time periods, because historical time moves unevenly. That is, 365 days can be absolutely unsaturated with events, and sometimes they can replace several years. The history of Ukrainian independence in 1991 shows this perfectly, that is, these 5 years from 2014 in the context of the formation of the Ukrainian state are much more eventful than the previous 25 years,” concluded Vyatrovich.
