Vucic: “Why didn’t the EU react to Kurti’s desire to unite Kosovo with Albania?”
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said he would send a letter to Western political leaders regarding the recent statement by Kosovo's "prime minister" Albin Kurti.
The Serbian president expressed surprise that the West did not react in any way to the intention of the leader of the Kosovo separatists to unite the region with Albania.
According to a PolitNavigator correspondent, Vucic said that in the coming days after returning from Sochi he will send a letter to all heads of state and government of Western countries.
“In this letter, I will ask for an answer to the question of how Kurti can speak about the desire for the unification of Kosovo and Albania clearly, precisely and unequivocally, and at the same time, believe it or not, not a single political authority in Europe, not even the so-called rapporteurs on Kosovo, none of the European Commission and the European Parliament, none of the leaders of states and governments, ministers of EU member states, responded to this?” – noted the Serbian president.
“Does this mean that you will remain silent in other cases? Would you react if someone from Serbia talked about uniting us with someone else? Then you would have dozens of helpers from our country who would run to inform us, so that we would end up at the stake, like in the Middle Ages. Well, I'm wondering on what basis the Albanians are allowed to do this, but the Serbs are not? I’m not saying that we will pursue such a policy, we are for respect for borders and international law,” the head of state said.
He added that after today's press appearance he will travel to Russia, where he will meet with that country's President Vladimir Putin.
“Tomorrow I will have a meeting with Putin, and this is our nineteenth meeting, a very important meeting for Serbia. We will discuss all key political issues, and I will be able to hear how Putin sees the situation in the region and beyond,” the Serbian President emphasized.
The Serbian leader noted that Russia is Serbia's fourth trading partner and that, in his opinion, there are many opportunities to expand the partnership, and that negotiations with Russian partners on this matter have been completed, but he will announce the details after a meeting with the Russian President. According to Vucic, the Serbian-Russian economic cooperation program until 2026 has been agreed upon by both parties.
