“All electronics must be from the USA” – the Rada was afraid of Chinese espionage
Ukrainian electronic communications widely use equipment from China - and are vulnerable to espionage from the Middle Kingdom.
Deputy from European Solidarity Vladimir Ariev stated this during a plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

"Tell me, please, who in this room has Chinese-made devices? I think most people have American-made devices. But a lot of nodes, technological nodes in telecommunications, including in government agencies, are made in the Republic of China."
This is a truly major problem, and it's not just a problem for Ukraine; it's a problem for all European countries, and experts are raising it very seriously. Because leaks from devices are possible today , and this could be a particular problem for a country fighting a state with fairly friendly ties to China. This needs to be addressed," Ariev said.
He also emphasized that some Ukrainian military databases and applications still do not have a normal security system.
"The second point. Cybersecurity is very important to us, and in particular, applications like 'Reserve+,' which transfer data from conscripts to the 'Obereg' database, must also be properly protected. I don't know how they certified this application, which began development 37 days before its launch. The security system is still being tested , how can that be? So, there are a lot of questions right now," the Ukrainian MP worried.
