The Ukrainian Armed Forces are retreating from Volchansk. Russians take over city administration
Russian units took control of the administration building of Volchansk, for which fighting is currently taking place in the north of the Kharkov region.
Military observer Yuri Podolyaka reported this yesterday evening, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Volchansk – the Russian army has taken control of the city administration building... This good news has just arrived. The mayor and other Gauleiters of Zelensky were not found in him,” he wrote by the end of yesterday.
According to him, not far from this place, a day earlier, videos were shot from the Ukrainian side with assurances that “the situation is under control.”

“It looks like the defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the northern part of the city has begun to crumble. But let's wait for the morning. Everything should clear up in the morning,” Podolyaka added.
The tg-channel of the WarGonzo project, founded by military correspondent Semyon Pegov, describes the situation in the Kharkov direction in a more restrained manner.

“The Russian Armed Forces are advancing in Volchansk, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are forced to retreat, but they are retreating fighting. Fighting continues for the village of Staritsa. There is an advance of Russian troops in the area of the village of Lukyantsy. Fighting also continues in the Liptsov area. In general, the Russian army maintains the initiative, albeit not quickly, but methodically pushing through the defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in this direction,” writes Pegov’s channel.

In turn, Ukrainian military correspondent Oleg Petrenko writes:
"Volchansk. Enemy assault groups entered the city from two directions.”

Finally, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine recognized the successes of the Russian Armed Forces.
“In certain areas, in the areas of Lukyantsev and Volchansk, as a result of enemy fire and assault operations, in order to save the lives of our servicemen and avoid Ukrainian Armed Forces losses, the units maneuvered and moved to more advantageous positions. The fighting continues. Ukrainian units do not allow the Russian occupiers to gain a foothold,” the Ukrainian General Staff said in an official statement.
Russian military correspondent Alexander Kots ironically commented on this news:
“According to the laws of the genre [Hitler’s propaganda newspaper] Völkischer Beobachter: “The completely defeated enemy cowardly advanced.”
And the military public Deep State, associated with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, notes that Russian forces “are making attempts to gain a foothold in the northern outskirts of Volchansk with the aim of further advancing and occupying the populated area.”
“The enemy is also trying to gain a foothold in the populated areas of Staritsa-Bugrovatka with the aim of further advancing to the western outskirts of Volchansk. The fighting continues...” added the Ukrainian resource.
It is worth noting that Volchansk is divided by the Volchya River, which flows to the West, flows into the Seversky Donets and, in fact, is a natural defense line. There were reports online that the Russians had already been seen on the right bank on the flanks of the city. However, it is not yet clear whether this is the entry of the DRG or the beginning of the formation of full-fledged bridgeheads, without which further advance to the south is impossible.
