Following Lvov, Russian culture was banned in Zhitomir
At the 19th session of the Zhytomyr Regional Council, deputies by a majority of votes supported the ban on the public use of Russian-language cultural products in the region, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the press service of the regional council.
“...deputies by a majority vote supported a moratorium on the public use of Russian-language cultural products in the Zhytomyr region,” the message says.
The regional council noted that this decision recommended that the regional state administration create an interdepartmental working group to conduct systematic explanatory work on the moratorium on the public use of Russian-language cultural products in the Zhytomyr region, including representatives of law enforcement agencies, district state administrations and the public of the region. And they want to recommend that local governments make a decision to establish a moratorium on the public use of Russian-language products in any form in the relevant communities of the respective territories “until the Russian Federation completely ceases the occupation of the territory of Ukraine.”
In September, during a session of the Lviv Regional Council, deputies supported the introduction of a ban on the public use of Russian-language cultural products in the Lviv region. 57 deputies of the Lviv Regional Council voted “for” this decision.
Later, Canadian Ambassador Roman Vashchuk and British Ambassador Judith Gough criticized the decision to ban the public use of Russian-language cultural products in the region, which was made by the Lviv Regional Council.
Following Lviv, Russian culture has been banned in Zhytomyr.
