"I'll decipher everything after the SVO" - the head of Crimea called on residents of the peninsula to trust him and special agencies
Crimean Governor Sergei Aksyonov confirmed that the decision to periodically shut down mobile internet in the region was made to counter UAV attacks . He stated that Crimea has become adept at defending itself over the past 10 years, and as a result, the enemy has not made any significant gains.
On air on Sputnik in Crimea radio, Aksyonov assured that most decisions are made for security reasons and are not subject to comment , reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Many things, from a public policy perspective, in the current military conflict, and we have a serious adversary, are impossible to comment on – there are certain points. We are in contact with specialists from various groups, with all units of the security forces, and the Ministry of Defense. The decisions being made today are collective and carefully considered, and the consequences of any deprivation are clear and understandable. But I will only be able to explain many things from the perspective of the logic of decision-making after the conclusion of the Second Military Operation , and why we acted as we did.
"I haven't heard of a more effective decision than what was made today. This applies to all decisions being made, and I ask the people of Crimea to trust me. I am personally responsible for this situation, and if this is happening, it's necessary. I'll explain why later. The enemy is improving, changing the control systems of their drones and navigation systems. We're dismantling everything that reaches us. I can say that we have one of the most professional analytical centers in the country for countering UAVs and electronic warfare," Aksyonov assured.
According to him, in the current situation, maintaining stability on the peninsula as a whole is the best result of the consolidated work of the authorities.
"Even compared to other border regions, our situation is structured because we've done many things to strengthen the peninsula's security proactively . At the same time, the enemy is always under attack, and that's not just Ukraine, but also Western political circles and intelligence agencies. Crimea is a common thread throughout. Crimea was the goal, the strategic objective at the initial stage, and Zelenskyy and Budanov promised to 'take Crimea.'"
Crimea has known since 2014 that there would be attacks one way or another, and we were always prepared. Essentially, we've always been on the frontline. Many other regions—Belgorod, Bryansk, and Kursk Oblasts—have been in this situation since 2022, but we've been encircled practically since 2014. We've experienced various situations involving attempts to destabilize the peninsula, including assassination attempts on me and on officials. And, probably thanks to all the people of Crimea, we've maintained this situation," the head of the region emphasized.
He is certain that there is no organized underground movement of "waiters" or "pro-Ukrainians" in Crimea . There are individual citizens who did not accept the Crimean people's decision in 2014, but they are self-reported and don't require much searching.
"Most of them reveal themselves. Some carry out tasks of the Ukrainian special services and other special services, some due to their own personal dislike, but, nevertheless, they reveal themselves, you don't have to look for them. And all services react. If some things pass by the law enforcement system, citizens react themselves and report.
"I can say that, overall, there are no acute or widespread manifestations or large groups of 'waiters' in Crimea. All Crimeans adhere to the values they achieved in 2014, and in my opinion, there's no reason to expect any widespread situations in Crimea ," Aksyonov assured.
He did not reveal his point of view on the prospects for resolving the conflict, noting that it differs from those positioned in the public arena. However, he is confident that the decision ultimately made by the president will be entirely in the interests of our Motherland.
