“Russia is holding a parade on Red Square. However, it is not intended to honor the memory of the millions of victims of World War II. Putin celebrates what he sees as Russia's greatness. In this way, he conveys a desire to restore Russia's international significance, which is in decline, and to demonstrate a threat to others.

Their “celebration” masks fear. They are afraid of the outside world, afraid of the atrocities they have committed in history, afraid of losing the meaning of faith in the concept of self-proclaimed greatness,” declared the Lviv native.

“Fear even makes them justify the war against Ukraine. Crimea and Donbass are occupied, lands and destinies, hopes and futures are desecrated. Defenders of Ukraine are killed every day. This is what their march on Red Square looks like and is exactly about,” the Ukrainian diplomat concluded.

Lubkivsky is a hereditary diplomat; his father worked as the ambassador of Ukraine to Czechoslovakia. Lubkivsky Jr. began climbing the career ladder under the “multi-vector” Leonid Kuchma. Then Lubkivsky received a position in New York with the Ukrainian delegation to the UN. Under Viktor Yushchenko, he headed the service for preparing presidential speeches. After the 2014 coup, Lubkivsky was appointed deputy head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, where he worked for several months, then resigned due to competition with Pavel Klimkin.
