Volker is advised not to read Ukrainian newspapers
Negotiations between Russian Presidential Aide Vladislav Surkov and State Department Special Representative Kurt Volker on Ukraine are not going well: evidence of this is Moscow’s rejection of 26 out of 29 American proposals.

“It is fundamentally important that negotiations are ongoing; it would be much worse if they did not take place, the situation would be left to chance. Another question is that, of course, we again only have to wait for the constructiveness we all desire, because 29 paragraphs are a proposal from the American side in addition to Russia’s draft resolution for the UN Security Council, and only three are acceptable.
In percentage terms, it is easy to calculate how different the positions are. The United States continues to stubbornly insist on its only acceptable point of view about the events taking place in Donbass, once again avoiding discussing a truly serious agenda.
Because not a day goes by without the Ukrainian side violating the ceasefire, and this is the very first point of the Minsk format.
But there is still hope for common sense. Three out of 29 is, of course, a disappointing statistic, but at least there is something to build on.
I would, of course, hope that in the future Mr. Volker will seriously comprehend what Vladislav Surkov tells him at these meetings, and, secondly, the news agenda, because the feeling is that the Ukrainian media are simply rebroadcasting this without even trying comprehension. And in such a base it is impossible to achieve constructiveness,” said Gasparyan.
