Volker: The US will drag Ukraine into NATO without haste
The United States supports Ukraine's future membership in NATO, but Kyiv and the Alliance are not yet ready for this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This statement was made by the special representative of the US State Department for Ukraine, Kurt Volker, in an interview with the Kyiv publication “Den”, close to ex-Prime Minister of Ukraine Yevgeny Marchuk.

“We support Ukraine's future membership in the Alliance and keep the doors open. And we did this at the recent meeting of the foreign ministers of NATO member countries, Ukraine and Georgia,” he said in an interview.
“Ukraine is not yet ready for membership. And NATO is also not ready to reach a consensus on the admission of Ukraine,” added Kurt Volker.
He also noted that the United States would like to see movement towards Ukraine's membership in the Alliance and the search for bilateral agreements.
According to the latest survey, about half of Ukrainian citizens have a rather positive attitude towards the country's accession to the European Union, and almost 40% - towards integration into NATO.
