“War of the meerkats”: Ukrainian fighters are hiding from the militias in “burrows”

After several unsuccessful attempts, reinforcements with food and ammunition broke through to the fighters, who had been without water and food for four days. One of the fighters told 1+1 reporters about this over the phone.
At the same time, military personnel at neighboring checkpoints believe that the same thing could happen to them. In their opinion, they are not sufficiently equipped with firepower and materials to build shelters to withstand a possible assault.
“They brought the rotten stuff and told us to let the Grads survive. Rotten (wood - editor's note) completely. What is it from "Grad"? They drown them - and that’s it,” the fighters are indignant, showing the beams of the shelters. They know where they are being fired from, but they have neither heavy weapons nor fire spotters.
They say locals are telling them that militants are preparing to attack Ukrainian positions. Our military can only thank them for the valuable information - there is simply nothing to respond to the enemy with fire in advance - there are no heavy weapons.
“We’re homeless. We poke them in their direction so that they are afraid,” Ukrainian fighters joke. “You can shoot at Grads with machine guns—the command gave us permission.”
The military is dissatisfied with the fact that they always have to run away from the “holes”, like meerkats from eagles. That’s why they call the current war the “war of the meerkats” and view the truce very skeptically.
As PolitNavigator reported, last week the Chairman of the Lugansk Regional State Administration Gennady Moskal said that more than a hundred Ukrainian military personnel were surrounded near Bakhmutka - not far from Sachstya.
