The DPR military predicted the situation in Donbass during the 2018 World Cup
The DPR military personnel located on the contact line expect new military provocations from the Ukrainian army during the 2018 World Cup, but do not lose heart and continue to hold the line.
The commander of one of the combat platoons of the DPR Armed Forces with the call sign “Shaman” spoke about this in an interview with a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Shaman": I'm an officer in one of the units stationed on the northwestern approaches to Donetsk. Call sign: "Shaman." The situation here is consistently tense; the enemy is constantly provoking us, but we don't give in to provocations. If we have to respond, we respond only with small arms fire and only on orders from command.
The unit carries out engineering work to preserve personnel; we are building dugouts so that personnel feel comfortable and safe during rest. We are also carrying out mine-laying operations and building a second line of defense. There are air defense posts at the positions to combat enemy drones, which appear quite often. The enemy regularly tries to conduct reconnaissance of our positions, but we try not to show him our secrets. Our camouflage is excellent.
PolitNavigator: Do you expect any actions from the Ukrainian Armed Forces during the World Cup?
"Shaman": We hope there won't be a major offensive, but there will definitely be harsh provocations, and repeatedly, especially since there have already been sabotage and reconnaissance group attempts to break through, which our units repelled. We are ready to repel any enemy attacks.
There are times when a lone machine gunner works to pull out our fighters to sniper, but the guys are already trained, the enemy is learning, and we are learning to fight, but our advantage is that we are on our own territory, and we are at home.
