The Ukrainian Navy can hide behind an American destroyer for provocation
Kyiv can use the American presence in the Black Sea as a cover and stage another provocation.
Military expert Vladislav Shurygin did not rule out such a development of events in a comment to Izvestia, answering a question about the consequences of the entry into the Black Sea by the American destroyer Donald Cook.
“Previous visits by American ships were not coordinated with Ukrainian forces. Meanwhile, Kyiv can try to carry out its own operation on its own, without informing the Pentagon, the expert believes. “But, of course, our military leaders are ready for this scenario. In December, before the American ships, the British reconnaissance ship Echo was in the Black Sea. When he entered the port of Odessa, a representative of the Ukrainian government invited the British to go into the Sea of Azov to test the Russian reaction. Representatives of the old maritime power did not support the idea of provocation.”
As PolitNavigator reported, veteran Ukrainian foreign intelligence officer Lieutenant General Vasyl Bohdan asserts that the next time Ukrainian ships attempt to break through the Kerch Strait, they will do so under NATO cover.
