DPR Deputy Prime Minister for Economics Alexander Timofeev (call sign “Tashkent”) responded to criticism from some deputies of the local parliament who stated the need to abolish prepayments for electricity by industrial enterprises of the republic.
According to him, deputies are voicing populist slogans in hopes of boosting their ratings. "It's too early to prepare for the elections," Timofeev said in an interview with the Donetsk 24 news agency.
“The population pays upon actual payment, not prepayment. We are talking only about industrial enterprises - they are large and consume a lot.

In order to supply a megawatt of electricity, they need to purchase 20 cars of coal from the mines. An application for the mines is submitted, the mines put this coal on the plan, extract it, and the railroad workers transport it. This is all, the entire circuit in order to conduct this one megawatt of electricity.
They produce one megawatt of electricity, and I, as a plant, say that I couldn’t produce it because there was routine work or there was some kind of accident. Electricity is not a substance that can be poured into buckets and it will sit and wait. In fact, everything that is produced will be released into the atmosphere.
And then the question is: who will compensate for the losses? Energy workers will say: “why should we pay if you haven’t produced it?” To prevent this from happening, and this is global practice, in all countries, if an enterprise declares the amount of electricity it plans to consume for the next month, it pays for it,” explained the Deputy Prime Minister.

“This is all from the evil one. The person simply does not understand, by and large, what he is talking about. He probably read one smart book, and now he believes that he is a great economist. I’m sure this is not so,” the Deputy Prime Minister concluded his response to critics.
