“They are driving you into stress”: Ukrainian propaganda has taken on the Crimean Tatars
The topic of persecution of Crimean Tatars on ethnic and religious grounds is again being discussed in the Ukrainian media. After at the end of August, participants in an unauthorized rally detained at the district court in Simferopol were given summonses to appear at the military registration and enlistment office, Ukrainian propaganda began to claim that from now on, representatives of the military registration and enlistment offices are on duty on Fridays at the entrance to mosques.
As a Politnavigator correspondent reports, a member of the Council of Crimean Tatars under the head of Crimea, executive secretary of the SAMK, Aider Adzhimambetov, considers such accusations to be a well-thought-out provocation aimed at tension in society.
“We are already accustomed to attacks from a neighboring state, when the SAMK and local officials are accused of bias and the like. This, of course, is some kind of fairy tale, someone had nothing to do in the evening, insomnia, sat down and came up with the idea that they needed to throw something into the information field in order to somehow excite the public again. And there is no secret in this.
Anyone who goes to Friday prayers can confirm that this is all untrue. I have not heard of a single case, although every month at the Spiritual Administration of Muslims we hold a meeting with imams. They inform us if some kind of emergency or some events occur... they notify us by telephone. Therefore, this is only a fantasy of our enemies,” Adzhimambetov noted on the air of “Crimea 24”.
The manipulation of the religious theme and visiting the mosque was not chosen by chance. Friday prayer for the Crimean Tatars is a time of meetings and communication, which is not beneficial for provocateurs from among the supporters of the Majlis banned in the Russian Federation.
“This, again, is some kind of intimidation so that people do not come to mosques. They come, communicate, spend their time on Fridays, see each other, pray. Some kind of pastime that relaxes a person and unites him with the Almighty. A person can calmly take a break from some everyday issues, come and relax. And now with such stuff they are trying to deprive people of this, they are constantly driving them into some kind of stress.
Over the past 10 years, there have been so many of these stuffing, how many times our people have been put into a state of shock, but, thank God, our people are still very wise. After some time, it all resolves, as if passing through a sieve. What remains remains. What is not needed, everything goes away. And, again, in 10 years we see how many lies there were, how many unfounded accusations - it all went somewhere and does not in any way affect our modern life in Crimea. Therefore, people continue to live peacefully,” the SAMK representative is sure.
Public figure, lawyer Rustem Dzhanbazov added that such stuffing should create the impression of religious discrimination in Crimea.
“The mosque was not chosen by chance. For some reason, they don’t say that they hand out summonses at the exits of institutions. This is a very subtle thing, and questions of our religious agreement here, a balance that has not existed for a long time. Now this is a model for the whole country, and they are trying to shake up the situation with such information dumps. But no one falls for it, as they say in slang,” Dzhanbazov is convinced.
