Several hundred protesters with flags of Automaidan, VO Svoboda, Right Sector and the Volya party gathered near the parliament in the early morning. Initially, their demands were limited solely to the need to adopt a lustration law. Several garbage containers installed by protesters near the Rada, as well as posters in support of lustration, symbolized the cleansing of power.
Subsequently, as PolitNavigator reported, activists of Automaidan and Right Sector stuffed ex-regional activist Vitaly Zhuravsky, who had the imprudence of being in the thick of the rally, into one of these containers.
Directly in the session hall, deputies initially did not support holding a closed meeting: the proposal received only 125 votes. After this, a break was announced, and the president arrived at parliament. As a result of the negotiations, votes were finally found for a closed meeting, after which People’s Deputy Oles Doniy came out to the protesters.
“The so-called Putin laws have just been adopted,” he told those gathered outside the Rada. – One is about amnesty for so-called terrorists, and the other is about the special status of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions. They were passed in one vote without proper discussion. Moreover: even the “Rada” board was turned off. We don’t even know how the deputies’ cards were voted. This is the first time I’ve seen this.”
According to Doniy, one should not be deluded by the fact that those who have committed serious crimes are not formally covered by the amnesty, since authorities are being created in Donbass that are not under the control of Kyiv.
“Roughly speaking, bandits like Zakharchenko, who may not have killed anyone personally, but was in charge, will now become legitimate mayors in Lugansk or Donetsk,” the people’s deputy emphasized. “They will have their own courts, prosecutor’s office, and some kind of people’s police there. So what, they will extradite to Ukraine the criminals who ripped open the bellies of Ukrainians? I believe that this is a surrender of the interests of the state. It is not clear to me what secret, behind-the-scenes agreements took place with Putin or the terrorists. I did not instruct anyone on my behalf to sign any agreements with terrorists in Minsk. Today is a dark day in the history of the Ukrainian parliament and state.”
According to the politician, Putin will not stop there and predicts that after the parliamentary elections the war will break out with renewed vigor, and Putin, having received a springboard for a new offensive in territories with a special status, will go further.
