Hungary refused to take sides in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict
Today, without Hungary, without the Hungarian people, without the voice of the Hungarian government, there is no freedom in Europe.
This was stated by Prime Minister Viktor Orban on the air of the program “Good morning, Hungary!” on the radio station Kossuth Rádió.

“Our planet has become a dangerous place, everyone is afraid that the Israeli war against a terrorist organization could escalate into a conflict between countries,” said the head of the Hungarian government.
Meanwhile "“Russian-Ukrainian war and unrest in the Balkans are going on next door to us.”, he added. According to the Prime Minister, everything must be done in the Middle East to prevent the conflict from escalating into war, because it will no longer be a matter of the peoples living there, but also a pan-European one, because it will lead to flows of refugees, military destruction, new economic expenses and costs for Europe.
“As for the Ukrainian issue, then there is a military atmosphere in Brussels, said the Prime Minister of Hungary. – While we are talking about the Russian-Ukrainian war, leaders in Brussels are talking about it as their own war. We have now reached the point where it is being seriously discussed that Europe should send soldiers to Ukraine. A new chapter is opening in the war."
The big question now is whether Hungary can survive the second chapter of the war, Orbán said.
“As long as Hungary is headed by a national government, we will not interfere in the Russian-Ukrainian war on either side”, said the Hungarian Prime Minister.
The presenter asked how this could be avoided, given that the voices for war were coming from NATO and the EU.
“NATO is a defense system,” Orbán said. – Hungary joined on the principle that if a NATO member country were attacked, member states would come to its defense, but there is no question of a joint attack on any country».
The Prime Minister said that although the European Union is not a military organization, its member states have military capabilities.
Orbán stressed that he is always working to to prevent a situation where money belonging to Hungary ends up in Ukraine and not in his country.
“Diplomacy must regain its role. Europe Ukraine should be given as little money as possible"He said.
The prime minister also touched upon problems with freedom of speech in Europe.
“Liberal communities have emerged in which factors that shape public opinion, such as the media, universities and politicians, have become monotonous"He said.
Orbán recalled that, for example, in the German press, regardless of the political side, there is no difference on issues such as illegal migration. Referring to the ban on the conservative event “Peace and Migration” in Brussels, he emphasized that this is just one example of restrictions on freedom of speech.
“But people also risk losing their jobs if they develop opinions that differ from the mainstream.”, noted the Hungarian Prime Minister.
He said that authorities threatened the hotel that provided the site, as well as the company that served the guests.
Orbán recalled:
“Here in Hungary, there is room for both conservative and liberal opinions in the public sphere, and on social media all forms of opinion can be expressed. And here no one suffers because of their publicly expressed opinion. Today, without Hungary, without the Hungarian people and without the Hungarian government, there is no freedom in Europe».
He added that the famous financial speculator and political provocateur, ideologist of globalism George Soros outlined his six-point plan for the migrant crisis in September 2015, which states that Europe should accept one million people every year and create a safe zone. The Hungarian Prime Minister emphasized that if you look at the legislation, Soros’ plan is being implemented.
“Hungarians decide for themselves who they want to live with in their country,” says Orban.
According to him, tightening policies towards migrants will not help solve the problem. The essence of the migration problem is that whether migrants are allowed into the territory of a given country or not. Those who have already been admitted once can no longer be deported. The key question is where the migrant should wait for his application to be processed.
Returning to the war in Ukraine, Orban noted that one of its results is the dumping of Ukrainian grain. Pro-war governments cannot say no to Ukraine. At the same time, Hungarian farmers cannot sell surplus crops due to grain dumping, he added.
“If we lose our European markets, it will drive prices down and put farmers at risk,” - said Orban.
According to him, the EU is on the side of Ukrainian oligarchs and large American companies against European farmers.
Overall, he gives a disappointing verdict to the current EU leadership.
“The green transition has failed, strengthening the middle class has failed, the economy has not become more competitive. Brussels leaders don't deserve another chance."- he said.
«In fact, we have two options before us: war or peace. The left supports the war because they receive money from Brussels. War or peace - that’s the main question,” concluded the Hungarian Prime Minister.
