“By a decree of the President of Ukraine, for his outstanding personal contribution to strengthening Ukrainian-Turkish interstate cooperation, supporting the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine, the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, 1st degree, is awarded to His Honorable Erdogan Recep Tayyip, President of the Republic of Turkey. President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky,” the head of Zelensky’s Office Andriy Yermak read out the decree.

The Turkish president was the first to take the floor and, thanking for the gift, assured the Ukrainian side that Turkey would never recognize Crimea as Russian.

“We perceive Ukraine as a key country in terms of the security and stability of our region, and within this framework we support, have supported and will support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, including Crimea.

Türkiye has not recognized and does not recognize the annexation of Crimea. And we will continue, together with the Ukrainian people and Ukrainian government agencies, to support the Crimean Tatars.

Now work continues to implement the construction of housing for our brothers Crimean Tatars and the construction of a complex of mosques in Kyiv. At today's negotiations we discussed the state of affairs of this issue.

The President also gave information and spoke about the latest events in Donbass. We wish that the ceasefire, which was announced on July 27, continues uninterruptedly. We are ready to provide any support and assistance for the benefit of the stability of our region,” Erdogan said.

In turn, President Zelensky showered his gratitude to his Turkish colleague, and also announced Turkey’s readiness to participate in the Ukrainian “Crimean platform project.”

“For us, Turkey’s support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine is extremely important. President Erdogan assured that he will continue to make active personal efforts to release political prisoners of Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars who are illegally held by Russia.

To ensure human rights in occupied Crimea, we will closely cooperate within the framework of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly. I also invited Turkey to join our Crimean platform project - this is a tool for consolidating international partners to protect the rights of Crimeans and de-occupation of the Ukrainian peninsula. We are grateful to you, Mr. President, for your willingness to support this project and take an active part in it.

“Today we talked about the situation in the East of Ukraine, about the difficult situation in Donbass, and came to an agreement that the political and diplomatic path to solving the crisis and the onset of a state of peace is indeed united and correct,” said the President of Ukraine.

“We have a common point of view in the field of further cooperation in the field of security and defense, in particular, security in the Black Sea and the implementation of Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic course,” Zelensky added.

It should be noted that the " Crimean Platform " was initiated by Ukraine as an international platform for developing solutions for the return of Crimea to Ukrainian control.
