“Old Europe” is nervous about US pressure
US pressure on “old Europe” and the constant demand to purchase weapons and gas only from the United States makes those circles in Germany that are interested in joint business with the Russian Federation “nervous”.
German political scientist Alexander Rahr, who serves the interests of those German political and economic circles interested in cooperation with Russia on the construction of Nord Stream 2, voiced this opinion on the UkrLife internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“It is becoming increasingly difficult to negotiate with the Germans, the French, the Belgians, the Italians, because countries are asking themselves the question: “Why should we pay so much money for your presence here?” But Trump wants it his way. His idea is to create military alliances on a bilateral basis. With Great Britain, when it leaves the European Union, with Poland, I don’t know how interested he is in the Baltic countries, with Romania. Those countries that are strategically located in areas that are important to America... In addition, he needs to sell his weapons.
Americans today are much more focused on business than before, they want to make money, so they tell us Europeans: “Stop buying weapons even from your own countries, buy our weapons, because we protect you, pay for them. And buy our gas, not Russian gas.” This is already starting to get on the nerves of the old Europeans, they don’t understand what kind of conversation this is between the allies, it looks like a dictate... Therefore, the Europeans are starting to seriously think about their own self-defense and about creating a pan-European army. I’m a historian, and it seems to me that sooner or later America would have left Europe anyway, and it’s good that Europeans are starting to think about this topic,” Rahr said.
