The US again threatened Maduro with military intervention
The United States may initiate a military operation in Venezuela if necessary. Washington, however, is counting on a peaceful transition of power, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Secretary of State Michael Pompeo stated this on Wednesday in an interview with Fox Business.

“The President has made it absolutely clear and consistent: military action is possible. If that's what it takes, the US will do it,” he said, noting that Washington is trying to do everything possible to avoid violence. “We would prefer a peaceful transition of power in which Maduro leaves and there are new elections,” he added.
Pompeo indicated that jailing Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido would be a “significant escalation” of the situation and would force the US to respond.
Let us remind you that on Tuesday new anti-government protests took place in Caracas and a number of other cities in Venezuela, which began after a group of military personnel supported Guaido. He posted a video message on Twitter in which he called on the military to take to the streets to “end the usurpation” of power in the country. Later, the authorities announced the failure of another government transfer attempt and arrests began. The number of detained opposition supporters exceeded one hundred.

The US has again threatened Maduro with military intervention.
