In the Sumy region, 60 km of a “protective ditch” was dug on the border with Russia in two months: 250 km remain

Sumy, September 03 (PolitNavigator, Victoria Litovchenko) –  A 60 km protective ditch was dug in the Sumy region on the border with the Russian Federation.

This was announced by the Chairman of the Sumy Regional State Administration Vladimir Shulga.

“The Sumy region was one of the first to start digging such a ditch back in July. Today, almost 60 km of a ditch 4 m wide and 2 m deep has been dug. Their time was stopped, so the engineering vehicle was sent to the ATO zone. But today the second repaired machine started working,” Shulga said.

According to him, a protective ditch is dug where there is a possibility of passage of equipment, with the exception of forests and rivers. “This is being done to prevent heavy military equipment from Russia from entering the territory of Ukraine, as well as to prevent light vehicles from smugglers from entering Sumy,” Shulga emphasized.

At the same time, he noted that now on the border of the Sumy region with the Russian Federation “there are no prerequisites for a direct invasion, but there is tension,” so border guards, law enforcement officers and the SBU are on duty in enhanced mode.

Let us note that the total length of the border with Russia in the Sumy region is about 300 km.
