Slovakia called Ukrainian Crimea a “legal mistake”
Crimea is historically and legally part of the Russian Federation, and the population of the peninsula, for the most part, feels Russian.
Former Slovakian Prime Minister Jan Čarnogurský stated this in an interview with the Rossiya 1 television channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
He called the entry of Crimea into the Ukrainian SSR in the middle of the last century a “legal mistake.”

"Whose? Well, Russian, of course. Russian, because historically it belonged to Russia - I will not talk about the legal mistakes that were made when Crimea entered Ukraine. First of all, Crimeans feel Russian, which means it was the will of the Crimeans,” said Charnogursky.
He also called on European countries to unite and vote against extending the sanctions.
“Countries such as Slovakia, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Cyprus, now Italy, even Austria - they should unite and talk even before the vote about the continuation of sanctions, how they will vote and that they will not vote for their extension,” the Slovak politician believes .
Earlier, at the Friends of Crimea Forum, Israeli political scientist Avigdor Eskin stated that the Crimean Peninsula should remain part of Russia and serve as an example for Ukraine.
Also in Crimea, representatives from 30 countries signed an agreement to establish the Association of Friends of Crimea.
