At this time, in the corner near the stage, one of the awardees attacked a woman in an embroidered shirt standing under the Ukrainian flag and hit her on the head with a certificate of honor and a bouquet of flowers. Then the woman was pulled away from the victim.
According to local publication 6262.com.ua – the city website of Slovyansk – the conflict occurred during the "Memory is Sacred" song festival, which was held at the Center for Culture and Environment in Slovyansk.
