The corresponding decision was made at a session of the city council, which was held behind closed doors.
As the Slavgorod publication reports, citing one of the deputies, no official information was provided on the referendum issues. The exact date of the referendum has not yet been announced to the deputies; the previously named date of May 11 is still in doubt.
In addition, it was decided to retain Nelya Shtepa’s post as mayor of Slavyansk, so formally she continues to fulfill her functional duties and sign documents.
But, in fact, all the duties of the mayor will be performed by the leader of the People's Militia of Slavyansk Vyacheslav Ponomarev, who now holds the position of chairman of the executive committee.
This compromise decision was made in order to avoid financial collapse, because the elected mayor is authorized to sign documents. The leader of the People's Militia of Slavyansk, Vyacheslav Ponomarev, refused to receive a salary for his position.
Let us recall, as Navigator reported, Nelya Shtepa resigned from her duties, while remaining “under the protection” of the militias.
Slavyansk is preparing to print referendum ballots.
