Simferopol, March 9 (PolitNavigator, Semyon Dmitriev) – On Monday in Simferopol, representatives of the exotic Crimean Ukrainians and supporters of the Majlis of the Crimean Tatars held a memorial rally dedicated to the 201st anniversary of the birth of the poet Taras Shevchenko.

The events had a strong political overtones, despite the fact that the organizers initially called for a move away from politics.

Organizers were prohibited from holding a rally near the Shevchenko monument in the Simferopol park of the same name, but were allowed to do so near the Three Graces monument in the Gagarin park. In the park, those who came stretched out the Majlis flag, as well as two Ukrainian flags with the inscription “Crimea is Ukraine.” In addition to Shevchenko’s poems, there were cries of “Glory to Ukraine – glory to the heroes!” Random witnesses quickly reacted to these shouts with obscene language addressed to the protesters.

As a result, one of the rally participants was detained. The Ministry of Internal Affairs officers took him to the nearest police department. As PolitNavigator learned, the reason for the arrest was ribbons in the color of the Ukrainian flag, which the young man tied on his chest. One of the organizers of the rally was detained along with him. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has so far refrained from commenting.

At the end of the action, all its participants - about 35 - 40 people - went to the building of the Regional Regional Office of the Zheleznodorozhny District of Simferopol, where the detainee was taken. However, they soon separated.
