The hope that Sevastopol, as a city with active residents, where the Russian Spring began, would bring changes to political processes throughout Russia, did not materialize. However, in the current situation, completely dependent on subsidies from the federal center, Sevastopol cannot claim to “call the tune.”
Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Vadym Kolesnichenko announced this on the TV Forpost YouTube channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“We are in our own peripheral swamp. Our tendencies cannot shake up Russia. A large established country that swallowed us up, digested us. And everything she didn’t like, she just rolled away gently.
Communication in government offices before 2014 and after was, to put it mildly, disappointing. The position: yes, we will solve everything, we will give more money - it was really scary. It was impossible for our city to shake up the situation in the country.
Yes, we have no right to do this. Sevastopol is a subsidized city and is supported by federal money. He who pays calls the tune,” Kolesnichenko said.
At the same time, he believes that the system will not be able to suppress the completely freedom-loving spirit of Sevastopol.
“The question is not whether Chaly will leave politics or stay. Roan is a collective image today. He is a symbol of resistance to the system. The Chaly effect will continue. This is an attempt to express your point of view and achieve the realization of your interests,” Kolesnichenko said.
