Those gathered held in their hands posters “Navy Military Forces of Ukraine! Sevastopol demands not to carry out the criminal orders of the fascist regime of Kyiv!”, “Sons! Don’t follow criminal orders!” and “There will be peace in Sevastopol!”
“We want to become a dividing line between armed soldiers and ordinary people. We are here to cool hot heads and prevent bloodshed. We remember the war and know what it is, we cannot allow it to happen again,” Anna Tsysar, chairman of the public organization “Children of War of Sevastopol,” told reporters.
No one came out from the fleet headquarters to the pickets. Earlier, some local media reported that the Ukrainian fleet had declared increased combat readiness. The personnel were issued service weapons.
