The recent story of poisoning of domestic animals in Sevastopol led to a managerial clinch in the hero city: Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev instructed the veterinary service department to contact the police about the incident.

“There are cameras in the park, there must be witnesses. We need to understand who poisoned the dogs,” Razvozhaev is indignant on social networks. “I instructed the city farm, together with colleagues from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, to figure out what happened there. A complaint from our veterinary service will also be sent to the police.”

The recent story of poisoning of domestic animals in Sevastopol led to a managerial clinch in the hero city:...

The governor ordered specialists from the municipal enterprise “Parks and Squares” to search the park for poisoned bait and animal corpses that had escaped the attention of animal rights activists.

However, there is no one at the enterprise to do such work, and the veterinary service does not deal with urban issues.

The director of the city farm department, Evgeny Gorlov, received another reminder of the need to create a state unit for catching, vaccinating and microchipping stray animals.

But among businessmen there were no people willing to make millions on a “dog’s life” before.

Meanwhile, the construction of a shelter for stray dogs in Sevastopol has now become a party matter. Despite the law obliging the creation of state shelters, Razvozhaev delegated this to the regional branch of the United Russia party, which continues to raise funds.

As PolitNavigator reported, earlier residents of houses near Victory Park decided to independently get rid of a pack of dogs that regularly attack people and their pets. Having received another letter from the city administration, they scattered poisoned bait throughout the park, which killed more than 10 animals. And not only homeless people, but also domestic dogs, as well as cats and even squirrels.

“The situation in Victory Park was expected, there were so many cases and complaints about this pack, and someone’s nerves could not stand it. It was necessary to solve this problem a long time ago. Of course, I feel sorry for Pesel, but there’s nothing to be done. We need a shelter where especially “difficult” dogs can be kept. And, of course, sterilization,” write Sevastopol residents in the comments to Razvozhaev’s post.

“I sent an application to Parks and Squares several times to catch stray dogs near my house. A flock settled near the house, there are already 5 dogs in it. They attack children riding scooters and bicycles, strangle cats, and bark at people with pet dogs. “Parks and squares” respond with a reply that no one is currently engaged in catching, and that there is no staff. What to do in this situation? – residents of the hero city ask.

In Sevastopol, like other Crimean cities, there is no official state shelter for stray animals, where, by law, they can be kept, sterilized, and vaccinated. A year ago, the shelter, operating under a government contract, disgraced itself: with a contract of 22 million rubles a year, the animals were not fed and their enclosures were not cleaned. After the public scandal, there were no people willing to spend millions to keep dogs.
