The head of the city department of education and science, Viktor Oganesyan, stated this during the session of the Legislative Assembly, answering a question from communist deputy Vladimir Demchenko.
“We all see what is happening in the southeast of Ukraine. There is a war going on, civilians are dying. We must help our brothers. And then information appears that our children's health camps are ready to accept children from Slavyansk and Kramatorsk, but only if their families buy vouchers at cost. How is this possible? After all, the city was allocated 85 million rubles for the operation of health camps. Can’t we really help our brothers in trouble for free?” Demchenko asked.
Oganesyan replied that he was not aware that the camp management intended to charge fees to refugees from the Southeast.
“Today, by order of the acting Governor Sergei Menyailo creates a headquarters to support residents of the south-eastern regions of Ukraine. I am a member of this body. At the first meeting, issues of reception and accommodation of refugees, collection and dispatch of humanitarian aid will be discussed. Naturally, we will also touch upon the problem of settling children from the Donetsk and Lugansk regions in our camps. There can be no talk of any money. I will fully support your initiative,” the official promised.
