Liberals from the “Spring” movement held an “anti-war” rally in St. Petersburg, hanging a banner in the colors of the Ukrainian flag. They also issued a statement repeating the theses of Bandera’s anti-Russian propaganda, which accuses Moscow of “starting a war.” At the same time, the liberals kept silent about the thousands of victims of Ukrainian shelling among the Russian population of Donbass and the need to protect it.
“The war with Ukraine is a crime and a specific person bears responsibility for it. His name is Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. Since 2014, a huge number of people have died from fighting in the Donbass. And there will be even more victims. The whole world was alarmed as if this war would start tomorrow. But it started 8 years ago,” reads the text of Viasna’s statement.
Liberals also openly dispute the legality of Crimea's reunification with Russia, calling it an "annexation."
“In 2014, the Russian government annexed Crimea and started a war in Donbass... The Kremlin’s ongoing aggressive policy is justified by the fact that the Russian Federation is constantly protecting and saving someone. But often the threats are fictitious, and as a result we get killed and maimed, injured both during military operations and during the repression of civilians by security forces in Crimea and militants in Donbass. For many years now we have been observing the murders of Crimean Tatars and the famous cellars and executions in the LDPR,” says the text distributed by Vesna.
Interestingly, the text was also signed by the youth wing of the liberal Yabloko party.
“Vesna” calls itself “young active citizens of Russia, united by the values of freedom and equality.”
“Our goal is to change the corrupt regime in Russia, to build a system based on democracy and human rights,” declare the allies of Bandera’s Ukraine.
