Mass layoffs await Ukrainian workers in Poland
The global financial crisis, which analysts predict for the second half of this year, will hit Ukraine hard. First of all, this concerns the export of Ukrainian raw materials and migrant workers.
Economic expert Igor Garbaruk stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to the expert, guest workers working in EU countries will be the first to be laid off and after that they will return to Ukraine en masse, demanding work and subsidies from the government.
“We understand that our main exports are grain, agricultural products, the main part of exports are the so-called ferrous metals, iron ore raw materials. And our most important export potential is our people, whom we are actively selling abroad today, squeezing them out of our own country.
In fact, boasting that we produce products with high added value and earn some very good dividends from this is certainly not the case. If this continues in this way, then with the collapse of the global economy, we clearly understand that ferrous metals will not be in demand as much as they are still in demand now.
For example, the number of construction projects in Poland and Germany will decrease. Accordingly, who will be fired first? Poles, Germans? Not, of course, our migrant workers who work there. They will gradually return here, demanding jobs, social protection, subsidies and so on,” Garbaruk said.
