Political scientist Alexey Martynov, close to the United Russia party, published on his blog a material from the Yarnovosti publication, where, with reference to sources in the presidential administration, it is stated: “radical speeches of “angry patriots” are beginning to irritate the authorities».
“If earlier “angry patriots” meant mainly former DPR Defense Minister Igor Strelkov (Girkin) and his entourage, now “overplayed loyalists” also cause irritation among interlocutors close to the Kremlin. For example, the activities of the writer Zakhar Prilepin, the parliamentary group GRAD, which is trying to ban performers that its members do not like, individual war correspondents and public opinion leaders who call for “reaching Kiev” and not entering into any negotiations with Ukraine on the possible end of the special operation.
According to the publication’s interlocutors, firstly, careless words from “ultra-hawks” can disrupt prisoner exchanges, agreements, and complicate the course of public and non-public negotiations.
- Any war ends in peace, and any special operation ends one day. People need to remember to remind them of this,” says one of the publication’s interlocutors.
Another interlocutor says even more emotionally: “You would know how tired everyone is of them (“angry patriots”)».
Another source notes that views on social networks of videos dedicated to military operations are falling, and the topic itself is beginning to cause, if not irritation, then fatigue, and those who demand general mobilization and dominance of the military agenda are no longer working for the Russian government (even if you are sure of the opposite). And the story of the “traitors” - for example, artists and athletes who left - in addition to aesthetic irritation, causes public misunderstanding, interception of supervisory functions from the state and further creates a split in society, which, in the Kremlin’s view, should strive for unity in a difficult situation.
Finally, the main complaint against the ultrapatriots is their attempts to dictate their agenda and their view of the special operation to the Kremlin, which wants to leave room for maneuver, that is, in fact, an attempt to dictate terms to the president and put pressure on him, which the Russian political system does not imply.”
Martynov himself comments on the data presented in the publication as follows:
“An intelligent “angry patriot” (not a city dweller of any kind) is popularly defined as an asshole. And of course, assholes always annoy everyone.”
