Gerashchenko's screams stopped in Minsk
Despite the fact that the Ukrainian side, under the leadership of Leonid Kuchma, has significantly changed its rhetoric towards relative constructiveness, the experience of four years of negotiations does not inspire much optimism in this regard.
Rodion Miroshnik, special representative of the LPR at the Minsk negotiations, stated this during a live broadcast from Minsk on the Rossiya-1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“We have very cautious optimism, and it is only about rhetoric. There is probably no need to talk about anything except slightly changed rhetoric, in which there is less “Poroshenkoism”. That is, in Minsk today the phrases “aggressor, occupiers, occupation administration” and so on were used much less frequently. There were relatively constructive negotiations in a number of groups.
We can say that in the humanitarian group, at least after Irina Gerashchenko left, the screaming ended and some constructive conversation began about the verification of people who are on both sides, and these are more than 300 people who have been waiting for an exchange for 17 months. There is a certain rhetoric in the economic group, we are talking about discussions about the mechanism for lifting the economic blockade, which has existed since February 2017. There was no good rhetoric in the group on security and politics,” Miroshnik said.
“There is no need to talk about anything more serious yet: there is only a slightly smoother tone, but, given the four years of negotiations, the tone does not greatly affect our worldview,” added the Lugansk diplomat.
