As Navigator reported, today at about 10:30 the first shots were heard in the center of Mariupol.
Around 12:00, military vehicles drove through the city. “Armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles are driving along Levanevsky. They knock down trees and ram cars,” eyewitnesses said. In the city center, heavy equipment also began destroying banners.
“People in camouflage are storming the city police department building. A bus arrived there with soldiers from one of the military units stationed near the city. Those police officers who refuse to obey the Kyiv authorities and carry out their orders are detained,” said representatives of local self-defense.
According to preliminary data, there were wounded as a result of the assault. Artyoma Street, where the city department is located, is cordoned off.
“The first floor of the City Hall caught fire. Shots are heard in the center. On the roadway of Lenin Avenue, traces of an infantry fighting vehicle track are visible. 5 infantry fighting vehicles and 1 armored personnel carrier drove along Lenin Avenue. On Lenin Ave., 2 people were seriously wounded - in the head and in the stomach. A huge pool of blood is located near the Arbat cafe. It is unknown whether the wounded survived or not. According to eyewitnesses, they were taken away in a car. There is a battle in the area of the police headquarters, and machine gun fire can be heard. Shooting near the police department. There are wounded,” reports the publication “0629”.
Local streamers report that weapons on armored personnel carriers are pointed towards opponents of the current government. It is reported on social networks that fire from military equipment was opened on people.
“Terrorists, approximately 30 people, captured two floors of the police department, ours are reflected on the third. Terrorists shoot from automatic weapons and use grenades. Outside, three armored personnel carriers and troops arrived to help us. They shoot to kill, the quilted soldiers began to scatter like Colorado. Russian snipers are working against us from the building opposite the clinic. Among the terrorists there are eight killed, all of us are alive, but many are wounded. The attack operation was well planned; there were traitors among the local cops who helped the enemy. Part of the National Guard was also blocked in advance by local separatists so that the soldiers could not come to the rescue. Despite everything, we hold on and fight back,” wrote Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleg Lyashko on his Facebook page.
“The premises of the Mariupol Internal Affairs Directorate are completely blocked along the perimeter by our troops and equipment. The terrorists have barricaded themselves inside and are shooting back. The order is not to take anyone alive, we’ll kill all the bastards so that it won’t happen to others,” added Lyashko, who had previously distributed his photo with a naked man, whom he called the “Minister of Defense” of the DPR, captured by security forces in Mariupol.
