State Duma deputies propose to arm the security of public housing facilities. Despite the fact that security companies already have this opportunity, at the legislative level they want to see something more serious than a baton for security guards.
State Duma deputy from Sevastopol Dmitry Belik announced this on the air of the First Sevastopol channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
He said that such an initiative comes from a number of deputies.
“I personally assume, and not only me, there are a number of deputies who believe that the security of crowds of people should be armed. Otherwise, in essence, they turn into the same civilians, only in camouflage. If a person has a baton, he cannot do anything against people with machine guns and pistols. If we today assumed that the security guards at Crocus City Hall would have had a firearm, this would at least have saved dozens of people, and quite possibly prevented such tragic consequences,” he noted.
According to the deputy, how to regulate the handling of weapons by private owners is not so important. It is possible that the functions of security in places where citizens are in large numbers will be assigned to the Russian Guard.
“Who should, who will have the right to theoretically own these weapons? The same private security companies that have a firearms license. Of course, these should be weapons rooms and all the things that are needed in such cases. It is possible that the special forces of the Russian Guard can perform such functions. This is a matter of details.
But the fact is that in crowded places, not only shopping centers, train stations, if there is security, then it must be armed,” Belik is sure.
Previously, deputy Alexander Khinshtein focused on the fact that the Crocus Profi private security company had weapons, but the Crocus security guards did not have them on the day of the terrorist attack. In this regard, the State Duma wants to oblige security organizations to provide armed security, including for shopping centers.
“A strange initiative. Private security already has the right to receive weapons. It is not clear what the deputies are going to additionally assign to private security.
The solution to the problem of terrorism, so that people are not defenseless against terror, could be a mass permit to carry weapons. Bandits, terrorists, ethnic gangs all carry weapons, but honest citizens do not. In Israel they did this, and it produced results. Terrorists are very often detained and eliminated by citizens themselves.
