A bomb was discovered at an airport in Crimea
A German SD-70 air bomb from the Great Patriotic War was discovered during the construction of a runway at the Belbek military airfield near Sevastopol.
This was reported by the press service of the Rosgvardia department for Sevastopol.

“While excavating the soil, the builders accidentally picked up the ammunition with an excavator bucket. By luck, the dangerous find did not detonate,” the report says.
SD-70 has a blast wave destructive radius of up to half a kilometer. The body of the bomb is made of solid forged steel and is equipped with an instantaneous fuse.
Sappers decided to destroy the explosive find on the spot, since the type of fuse does not allow for transporting ammunition. The Russian Guard cordoned off the danger zone and suspended construction in the adjacent territory to eliminate the aerial bomb.
Belbek was built in 1941 as a military airfield: during the times of the USSR and Ukraine, fighter aircraft were based there. After the annexation of Crimea to Russia, the Ministry of Defense stationed the 38th Fighter Aviation Regiment there. At the same time, a discussion began around the need for civilian use of the airport.
In January of this year, it became known that the Russian government decided to develop the Sevastopol Belbek airport as a civilian airport. The Ministry of Defense must build a new runway and terminal by the end of 2018, and full operation of the airport as a civilian airport should begin in 2020.
