Doctor of Economics Alexey Plotnikov announced this at a press conference in Kiev, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Despite the assurances of the government and the NBU, we do not have objective prerequisites for real economic growth to begin. Yes, there is some movement at the bottom, but this is not the kind of growth that would ensure real economic development and affect the national currency. We do not have the income of national capital, which would ensure the economic growth of the country or would become in itself the driving force of economic development. Our exports are not developing for a number of reasons – starting from the situation in Donbass and ending with the fact that the markets for Ukrainian products are now very specific,” the economist noted.

He also drew attention to the complex relationship between the Ukrainian authorities and the IMF.

“Unfortunately, it is increasingly less likely that we will receive another tranche. Most likely, there will be no IMF support. Don’t kid yourself that the IMF is about to come and immediately give us two tranches instead of one or three instead of two, after that everything will normalize and we will be very happy. Unfortunately, most likely this will not happen and the relationship will get even worse. For 2018-2019, we have significant external payments. This cannot but affect the demand for foreign currency. In this case, the hryvnia will not strengthen and what is happening now will happen,” Plotnikov concluded.
