The large-scale exercises that Russia is preparing to conduct in the Black Sea could be a harbinger of the creation of a land corridor from Donbas to Transnistria.
To seize the Ukrainian coast, not only the large landing ships entering the Black Sea but also the airborne forces based in Crimea and strike aircraft could be used. Former Deputy Chief of Staff of the Ukrainian Navy, Andriy Ryzhenko, voiced these concerns on the US State Department-funded Crimea.Realities resource, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Airborne landing will be used simultaneously. We know that recently additional airmobile and airborne units have been deployed in Crimea. For example, the 56th regiment in Feodosia, which was moved from the mainland of Russia and was reformatted from a brigade to a regiment.
We know that in the north of Crimea there are a large number of combat and transport attack helicopters. That is, an airborne assault force together with an amphibious assault force can solve a certain problem.
This could be the task of connecting Transnistria, Crimea and the Krasnodar Territory, it could be the task of seizing certain water areas of southern Ukraine, uniting Crimea with the Krasnodar Territory, and so on,” Ryzhenko listed a number of catastrophic scenarios for Ukraine.
