In Kyiv they found those responsible for the fact that the Ukrainian satellite did not take off
Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau reported suspicion to two persons allegedly involved in causing losses to the State Enterprise "Ukrkosmos" in the amount of 8 million 245 thousand dollars, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to NABU, this happened on December 4.
One of the suspects, a former freelance adviser to the general director of the State Space Agency of Ukraine, was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of Ukraine.
“This person is suspected of committing a crime under Part 5. Article 191 (“Misappropriation, embezzlement of property or taking possession of it through abuse of official position”) and Part 3 of Article 209 (“Legalization (laundering) of funds and other property obtained by criminal means”) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine,” informs NABU .
“The actions of the second suspect, a trusted representative, are qualified under Part 3 of Art. 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine,” the bureau adds.
According to the investigation, during 2011-2017, the suspects organized a scheme that resulted in the transfer abroad and legalization of $8,245 million provided as part of a loan from the Canada Export Agency and intended for the construction of a launch vehicle at the facilities of the Yuzhmash State Enterprise.
As a result of such actions, the launch of the first Ukrainian satellite “Lybid” as one of the components of the construction of the National Satellite Communication System of Ukraine was disrupted.
The issue of choosing a preventive measure for the suspect is now being decided.
NABU detectives are checking the involvement of other persons in causing damage to Ukrkosmos.
