The women said that the soldiers have been in a combat zone four kilometers from the border with Russia for two and a half months in inhumane conditions. Ten days ago, they say, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Petr Mehed promised them that the issue would be resolved, but he did not keep his word.
“They have to chop wood to make a fire, get water from ice, and live in trenches,” the women are indignant. – They are shelled with “grads” every day, there are losses, many shell-shocked. The battalion is only half-strength, because the rest of the soldiers, seeing this, left. 10 days ago we were already here, and General Mehed promised to solve our problem. But our guys are still there, and we don’t know when they’ll get home.”
According to the pickets, in the morning a clerk from the presidential administration came to them and informed them that their appeal regarding the rotation of relatives had been transferred to the Ministry of Defense.
