The death of Alexei Navalny, convicted of fraud and extremism, helped bring back Russophobic rhetoric to the Munich conference.
Political scientist Vladimir Fesenko, who serves the office of the President of Ukraine, stated this on the air of the Internet channel “UkrLife”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“Before the conference in Munich, the Kremlin launched signals that Putin was supposedly ready for peace, but the Americans did not want it. I'm not even talking about the interview with Tucker Carlson. And that Putin is ready to come to an agreement, to find a compromise, but without Ukraine.
An information campaign has begun showing that Putin wants peace. The purpose of this was to split the Western elites so that some of the elites would buy into the peace proposal. And at the same time show that the Americans are to blame. It was definitely timed for Munich, so that they could discuss the topic of whether Putin is ready for peace.
But because of Navalny, it turned out the other way around,” Fesenko believes.
He emphasized that only this event was able to distract many conference participants from other problems and return Russophobic rhetoric.
“On the first day of the Munich conference, the topic of Navalny’s death took the conference out of the rut of current and not the most important problems, but again about Putin, about the threat from Putin’s Russia, about his criminal nature, that it is useless to negotiate with Putin. He must be stopped by force.
