Kiev categorically does not recommend that the government withdraw the TCG for Donbass from Minsk
With the transfer of the negotiation platform of the Trilateral Contact Group for resolving the conflict in Donbass from Minsk to Turkey, little will change, but Kyiv’s relations with Belarus will deteriorate completely.
Political expert Alexandra Reshmedilova stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“For Lukashenko, at one time, the emergence of the Minsk negotiation platform and the signing of the same agreements was an opportunity to enter the European discourse and remove some of the isolation restrictions. Therefore, he really did not want to give up this site. They had a certain tug-of-war with Nazarbayev, and Lukashenko managed to defend this platform.
The question is different - that Kyiv and Minsk have changed the tonality in their relations. And if it all ends with the site being replaced, this could be another nail in the lid of the deterioration of an already difficult relationship.
Especially after information about drones appeared, there is another point - this is still dependent on electricity, there is no escape from it. If there is a sharp transition to changing platforms, which Lukashenko may perceive as some kind of hostile signal, this could worsen an already difficult situation in our bilateral relations,” the political scientist warned.
She called for moving extremely carefully in terms of changing the geographical location for the TCG.
“Because in fact, little will change, there may be the same zoom format or remote video meetings, but the sediment may remain quite serious,” explained Reshmedilova.
Kyiv strongly advises the government against moving the TCG on Donbass out of Minsk.
