One of the leaders of construction companies was kidnapped in Kyiv. The man was taken out of town, tortured and demanded a ransom. The kidnappers were wearing SBU uniforms. The gang was detained.

“The criminals acted dressed in the uniform of the Security Service of Ukraine. Among the six detainees is a former employee of the GRU of the Russian Federation (Main Intelligence Directorate of the Russian Federation) with experience of serving in “hot spots”. This was announced by the head of the Criminal Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine Dmitry Golovin,” the message says.
The kidnapping took place in the capital on the morning of November 8, on Levanevsky Street.
According to the police, they managed to take the victim to the prison, tortured him by strangulation, then beat him, including hitting him on the head with the butt of a pistol. The ransom amount was supposed to be 13 million hryvnia. The attackers were armed with objects similar to Kalashnikov assault rifles and pistols. They were also equipped as members of the SBU special forces.
Automatic weapons were confiscated from the detainees. No one was injured during the operation, the statement said.
The investigation is currently ongoing. The actions of the attackers will be classified by investigators under Part 2 of Art. 146 (“Unlawful deprivation of liberty or kidnapping”) of the Criminal Code.
