Kharkov, May 09 (Navigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – A rally on the occasion of Victory Day was held in Kharkov on Freedom Square: there were no provocations, but with a record.

The protesters came to the square from the Glory Memorial in Forest Park after a solemn flower-laying ceremony. The procession was led by veterans, carrying the Victory Banner ahead of the column.
There, the townspeople unfurled a huge, hundred-meter St. George ribbon. The participants of the procession carried it to Freedom Square.
The march participants laid flowers at the monument to Lenin, after which they held a rally, during which Yuri Apukhtin, a member of the coordinating council of the pro-Russian movement “South-East”, said that Kharkov is not ready to hold a referendum on May 11.
The protesters held USSR flags, St. George's banners, and symbols of social movements in their hands.
Most of the rally participants had St. George ribbons attached to their clothes. People chanted “Happy Victory Day”, “Russia”, “Kharkov is a Russian city”, “We will not forgive Odessa”, “Kharkov-Crimea-Donbass”.
At the same time, a festive concert for veterans was held in the park behind the Lenin monument, which was organized by the Kharkov City Council.
In general, the rally was peaceful, although law enforcement officials reported the arrest of provocateurs who “did not make it” to the rally.
