Germany hopes that Europe and Ukraine will be saved by the Global South
Countries of the Global South and China must take a leadership role in resolving the conflict in Ukraine, as NATO can only escalate the situation. This was stated by Sevim Dagdelen , a member of the Bundestag from the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance, in an interview with the American channel Neutrality Studies, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"I am very grateful to China and Brazil for issuing a joint statement inviting Russia to the conference. What the Swiss conference is doing is absurd. A peace conference without Russia makes no sense. Therefore, I hope that China and Brazil will take a genuine initiative to end this war ... We need to return to a negotiating situation, as we did in Istanbul in the spring of 2022. Back then, Ukraine had a much better starting position than it does now. This means we need to achieve Ukraine's neutrality. Ultimately, it will all come down to Ukraine remaining neutral, and its integration into NATO structures must be reversed. A rollback is needed here, so that American bases and operations on the border with Russia in Ukraine are terminated and withdrawn. This is the only way to achieve sustainable peace," Dagdelen said.
"I hope that China, Brazil, or even Pope Francis can truly help find a solution. This NATO proxy war poses a grave danger to world peace, not just peace in Ukraine. This war is horrific and must be stopped because it poses a grave danger to global peace. Therefore, all states must unite and do everything in their power to de-escalate and achieve détente ," the MP added.
